NRUTHYAMALIKA

About the book: Nruthyamalika is a compilation of songs on various deities, set in pure carnatic classical ragas. These songs are suitable for Bharathanatyam Choreography. The songs starts with ALARIPPU in Nattai raga, and ends with Kuravanji in Ragamalika. The Bhavas of the songs based on Navarasa Bhava, each Bhava is expressed by five songs and altogether makes 45 songs(9X5). The first song starts with the letter 'a' in Tamil and the last song ends with ayutha ezhuththu, (.:.) and interluding songs bear all the 'mei' ezhuththu in Tamil in order as the staring letter. Each group represent nine gems(navarathna) in the starting word.

Some of the songs are choreograped and staged by Shobhinya Karthikeyan, M.F.A the Director, and dance faculty, JAYASHETHRA ARTS, Singapore g her research in South Asian dances..
